Funding Priorities

Central MS Steel Magnolias Affiliate is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in the local community.  They join more than a million breast cancer survivors and activists around the globe as part of the world's largest and most progressive grassroots network fighting breast cancer.  Through events like the Komen Central MS Race for the Cure®, the Central MS Affiliate has invested over $1 million in community breast health programs in their 30 county service area and research grants through the Komen for the Cure Grants Program.  The Central MS Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure covers the following counties in Mississippi: Adams, Amite, Attala, Bolivar, Claiborne, Copiah, Franklin, Hinds, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lawrence, Leake, Leflore, Lincoln, Madison, Pike, Rankin, Scott, Sharkey, Simpson, Smith, Sunflower, Walthall, Warren, Washington, Wilkinson, Yazoo.  

A minimum of 25 percent of the net income from each domestic Affiliate Race supports the national Komen for the Cure Grant Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific conferences around the world.  Up to 75 percent of the net income from each domestic Affiliate Race stays in the local community to fund breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment projects
